Grammarly Review- What do you need to know about Grammarly?

Grammarly is a writing-enhancement platform that provides online proofreading and plagiarism detection services. It was founded in 2009 by Alex Shevchenko and Max Lytvyn.

The service checks submissions for grammatical errors, misspellings, punctuation, word choice, and style inconsistencies. Grammarly’s proofreader adapts to your needs and writing style, giving you the accurate results to make great content every time.

What is Grammarly?

Grammarly is a writing tool that checks for grammar, spelling, and punctuation mistakes as you write. The Grammarly plugin was originally developed as a Chrome extension, but it’s now available for Firefox. You can also download the desktop app or go to their website directly.

How does Grammarly work?

Grammarly is an automated proofreader that works better than any human editor or English teacher ever could. It doesn’t matter if you write for business, school, or your enjoyment. Grammarly is the best tool to improve your writing in 2018.

You don’t have to install anything because it works as a standalone application in your browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge). You can use it anywhere you type text: email, Facebook Messenger, Reddit comments, Gmail, etc. I like to keep the Grammarly extension on my tools bar to access the grammar checker whenever I need it quickly.

Is Grammarly Free?

Grammarly is 100% free to use. You can check spelling and grammar by using the Grammarly Editor on their website.

You can also install the Grammarly add-on for Microsoft Word or Google Chrome, which will allow you to check spelling and grammar before you send emails in Gmail or posts on social media.

Consider upgrading to a paid account if you want more features, such as vocabulary enhancements, plagiarism detection, genre-specific writing style checks, and a more advanced spell checker. Grammarly Premium costs $29.95 per month if billed monthly; otherwise, it’s $11.66 per month if billed annually ($139.95/year).

Grammarly also offers a free trial of their Premium service for seven days with no credit card required.

How to set up Grammarly.

  • Open your browser and go to
  • Click on “Get Started”
  • Create a new account. If you already have one, sign in.
  • To set up the web browser extension, click on “Add to Chrome” in the window’s top right corner. After that, click on “Add Extension” and click on “Allow” when a pop-up window appears. The extension is now installed and ready to be used!
  • To set up the desktop app, click on “Download for PC or Mac.” Once you have downloaded Grammarly for your desktop computer, open it and sign in to your account. You can now use it as an extension for Microsoft Word or Outlook or as a stand-alone program (if you do not want to use it together with Word/Outlook.)

How I use Grammarly.

Another option is to use the Grammarly browser extension. This will work with all web-based content, including Google Docs and WordPress. The browser extension has a dropdown box that offers explanations for grammatical errors and suggestions for implementing changes to your writing.

The desktop app is great for when you have finished writing something or are in the editing phase. You can import any file from your computer and run it through Grammarly’s grammar checker to get suggestions on how to improve it.

Finally, there is a mobile app for both iOS and Android devices. It works similarly to the browser extension in that you have access to explanations and suggested edits within the app itself after running your text through Grammarly’s algorithms.

Mistakes Made on this Blog Post!

I’ve already shown you the mistakes that Grammarly picked up on. Here are a couple more examples:

  • It found one of my sentences was too short, so it gave me a suggestion to make it longer by adding “this is because.”
  • The app suggested using the word “consequently” instead of “so,” which I did.
  • It found some passive voice, so I rewrote that sentence and fixed an incorrect usage of there vs. their vs. they’re and replaced some repetitive phrases like “the most” and “the best.”
  • Then it pointed out a few missing articles – an “a” here, an “a” there!

What Grammarly Checks For.

As a writer, you should be in control of your writing and make sure that it is always at its best with the help of the editing tool.

With Grammarly, you can do everything from checking your grammar and spelling to checking your text’s punctuation, sentence structure, tone, and readability. Also, this tool gives you access to a plagiarism detector. All your texts must be unique. However, don’t rely just on Grammarly because it checks only about 8 billion web pages for plagiarism, so there might be quite a few more!

What do I like about the Pro Version of Grammarly?

It also checks for vocabulary and tone. For example, if you use the same phrases and words repeatedly, Grammarly will let you know (and will offer suggestions). Your writing style is often as important as what you say.

The more expensive version has a readability feature that can help if you’re writing something like a product description or blog post. I always check headlines with this because it’s so easy to write something that sounds good at first but is not understandable when you give your page 5 seconds (business jargon – who does that?!)

When should you use a different service over Grammarly?

This might seem like a no-brainer, but Grammarly is not the only option for grammar and spelling checking.

If you’re not satisfied with Grammarly’s results, it could just mean that you need a different service altogether.

And there are plenty of them!

Here are some other options:

What are the benefits of using Grammarly?

Grammarly provides a free trial, which is a big benefit for many people. We know that most people are unwilling to purchase an app or service if they have not had the opportunity to try it out first. Grammarly also allows you to use their tool in your browser. This means that you can check any piece of writing by simply downloading the Grammarly add-on and then clicking on the extension in your browser bar whenever you are ready to proofread your work.

Once you have tried Grammarly and decided that it will be useful for you, there is an option to upgrade to premium. The paid version offers more features than the free version and gives users more detailed explanations of grammar rules and other helpful information.

The plagiarism checker built into Grammarly is another benefit for those who want to avoid potential issues related to copying someone else’s work. It checks through billions of documents online as well as offline databases to give accurate results on whether or not content matches existing sources closely enough so that it could be considered plagiarized material or not.”

How much does Grammarly cost?

Grammarly has three pricing plans. The Premium plan is the most popular and is ideal for most users. However, the first plan is the free version—which you can sign up for with your email address and start using right away. If you’re a student, you’re in luck: free Grammarly access comes with a student subscription.

The next step is the Premium plan, which costs $11.66 per month if paid upfront for an entire year ($139). Monthly payments are $29.95 each month, which makes it cheaper than many competing writing tools like WordRake or WhiteSmoke—with even greater savings if you commit to longer subscription lengths like six months or one year.$11.66/month (for a yearly subscription)

How do I install Grammarly on my platform?

Before you start using Grammarly, you need to sign up for a free account. You can do this in one of two ways:

  • Sign up by clicking on *SIGN UP* at the top of Grammarly’s homepage.
  • Click on *GET GRAMMARLY*. This will take you to the download page, where you’ll be able to choose which platform is right for you and start downloading Grammarly’s apps and extensions!

Installing Grammarly on your computer is incredibly easy. Once you’ve signed up for an account, click *DOWNLOAD NOW* on the download page to install the desktop app for Windows or Mac. After that, follow the installation instructions! If it doesn’t work at first, close all of your browser tabs completely out and restart your computer before trying again.

How can I use Grammarly to improve my writing skills?

Grammarly has a suite of tools to help you improve your writing, and the first step is to install the Chrome extension. Grammarly will open a list of suggestions for things like misspellings, misused or overused words, punctuation errors, and grammar issues when you click it.

You can also copy and paste the text into their online editor to double-check something quickly (e.g., an email), but I’ve found that using the extension is much more effective because it runs in the background while you write.

Looking for more details? Check out the full list of tools on the Grammarly website, but I think they’re all worth mentioning here because they’re all useful when you’re trying to improve your writing skills:

How is Grammarly different from other grammar checkers?

Grammarly’s editing suggestions are based on context, differentiating it from other grammar checkers. Grammarly checks for over 400 types of errors and can be used across platforms like Microsoft Office and Google Docs. Most other online grammar checkers only detect spelling and grammatical errors.

They also require you to correct these mistakes yourself, which is time-consuming manually. The other major difference is that Grammarly helps improve your writing style by suggesting more appropriate words, spotting incorrect punctuation usage, and detecting overused expressions. As a result, your writing becomes more polished and professional-sounding.
